Privacy policy

Greenroom is a concert calendar for Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia, on the web at greenroom.live and in the Greenroom iPhone app. Browsing shows needs no account. This page explains what we collect when you do sign in, why, and the choices you have. The short version: we use your data to recommend shows and run your account, we don't sell it, and we don't show ads.

What we collect

• Account details — your email address, and your name and profile photo if you sign in with Apple or Google. The handle you choose, and the passkeys you add (we keep only the public half).
• Your music taste — when you connect Spotify, Apple Music or Tidal, import from Last.fm, or pick artists in the taste builder: the artists you listen to, follow or choose, and related listening stats. Screenshots and Apple Music libraries are read on your iPhone; only the artist names are sent to us.
• What you do in Greenroom — shows you save or mark Interested, Going or Went; diary entries (ratings and notes); lists; concert buddies and buddy requests; artists and venues you follow; searches; and feedback you send us.
• Notifications — your notification settings, and the device or browser token needed to deliver push notifications.
• Technical data — standard server logs (IP address, browser or app version, pages requested) and error reports, used to keep the service running and fix bugs.

Location: the map and “Near me” use your location on your device to show how far away shows are. We don't store it. Camera and photos: flyer scans and screenshot imports are read on your iPhone; the images never leave it.

How we use it

• To run your account and sign you in.
• To recommend shows, explain why we picked them, and build your year-end Wrapped.
• To send the emails and notifications you've turned on (every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can change everything in Settings).
• To show your concert buddies the shows you're Going to or Went to — never ones you only marked Interested, and never shows you've hidden from buddies.
• To keep Greenroom safe, including reviewing reported content.
• To fix bugs and understand which features get used.

Some features on iPhone use Apple Intelligence (for example, turning a flyer into a search or summarizing reviews). That runs on your device.

What other people can see

By default nothing you do is public. Concert buddies (people you both agreed to connect with) see your Going and Went shows and the diary entries you share with buddies. If you turn on a public profile, anyone can see it at greenroom.live/u/your-handle, along with the diary entries and lists you mark public. Public ratings and reviews may also appear on artist and venue pages; your name is shown with them only if your profile is public.

Who helps us run Greenroom

We share data only with services that run parts of Greenroom for us, and only what each one needs:

• Railway — hosts our servers and database.
• Vercel — hosts the website.
• Resend — sends our emails.
• Sentry — collects error reports.
• Anthropic — the text of searches you type is processed by Anthropic's Claude to understand what you're looking for.
• Apple — Sign in with Apple, push notifications, Apple Maps.
• Google — Sign in with Google.
• Spotify, Apple Music, Tidal and Last.fm — only when you connect them, to read your listening.

We don't sell your personal information, share it for advertising, or use third-party ad trackers. We may disclose data if the law requires it.

Your choices

• Edit your profile, notifications, privacy and connected services in Settings, on the web or in the app.
• Disconnect a music service at any time; we stop reading from it.
• Delete your account in Settings (web: Settings → Delete account; iPhone: Me → Settings → Delete account). This permanently erases your account, saved shows, diary, lists and buddies. Server backups age out within 30 days.
• Ask us for a copy of your data, or anything else, at hi@greenroom.live.

Kids

Greenroom isn't meant for children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect their data. If you think a child has signed up, email us and we'll delete the account.

Security and storage

Data is sent over encrypted connections and stored in the United States. Sign-in tokens on iPhone are kept in the Keychain. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and keep only what we need.

Changes

If we change this policy in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect. See also our terms of use.
