Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five

Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five were an American hip hop group formed in the South Bronx, New York City, in 1978. The original line-up consisted of Grandmaster Flash, Kidd Creole (not to be confused with Kid Creole), Keef Cowboy, Melle Mel, Scorpio, and Rahiem. The group played an important role in the early development of hip hop through its use of turntablism, breakbeat DJing, and socially conscious lyrics. During the late 1970s, the group established a local reputation by performing at parties and live events in New York City.
